BEFORE – This traditional Dunwoody brick home has a distinctive mansard-style roof and plenty of architectural character, but the front entrance was easy to overlook. The relatively flat façade and simple uncovered doorway lacked a strong focal point, leaving the entry feeling somewhat lost within the broad front elevation.

AFTER –

Georgia Front Porch designed and built a custom gable roof portico that gives the home a much more defined and welcoming entrance. The peaked roof introduces a strong vertical element that beautifully breaks up the horizontal lines of the mansard-style roof, while substantial square columns give the new structure the scale it needs to complement the home.

Thoughtful architectural details make this portico especially distinctive. An elegant arched opening softens the gable design, while decorative trim echoes details already found along the home’s existing roofline. Overhead, a warm tongue-and-groove wood ceiling provides a handsome contrast to the crisp white exterior. The expanded covered landing also creates a more substantial transition from the front steps to the doorway — with welcome protection from Georgia sun and rain.

The transformation gives this Dunwoody home a clear architectural focal point, enhanced curb appeal and an entrance that finally feels as distinctive as the home itself.
