Christmas Decorations Winter Porch

So you haven’t transitioned your back porch yet from summer decor? Now that the weather has gotten chilly, it’s time go around your house finding items that look lodge-ish and Adirondack-ish! Make things cozy by gathering up your lanterns and adding some Mystique candles. Here are more back porch decorating ideas for winter to get you started.

Put Extra Flannel to Work

Perhaps you moved down from the north and brought with you a collection of flannel shirts. How about covering up some summer pillows with that flannel? Then run out to your local store and find some seasonal pillows (think reindeer).

Lighting

Add metaphorical warmth to your deck or porch with lighting like bright seasonal lanterns. Then complete the picture with woolen blankets and comfortable pillows. You certainly won’t be as comfortable as you would be with a fire pit, fireplace or heat lamp, but it may become mind over matter once you have a seat on one of those inviting chairs or outdoor sofas!

Heat Lamps

Electric or built-in gas heat lamps are relatively inexpensive and offer several advantages. Electric models can be installed flush to a ceiling which makes them virtually unnoticeable until you want to warm things up! They are reliable and can generate strong heat output. Gas heat lamps are bulkier than electric but they give off superior heat at a higher level of efficiency. You can choose old reliable—portable gas lamps which are so convenient because of their portability.

Fire Things Up

If you enjoy gazing at the stars in the winter sky from your porch, make sure you have throw blankets within close reach. However, if you want to be extremely comfortable as you gaze above, add a fireplace. Just imagine the warmth of the fire in contrast to the crisp, winter air. A back porch fireplace is guaranteed to help you avoid cabin fever and enjoy your backyard addition all year round. Count on us to help you design the perfect back porch and fireplace for you. We’d be happy to share ideas and other ways to get the most out of your back porch during the winter season.
